Financial Analysis Models
This model calculates the full CAPEX and annual OPEX for deploying a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network in rural UK locations using the 3.5 GHz spectrum band. Each cell site serves households via outdoor CPEs (12 or 16 dBi antenna). Backhaul is either direct Fibre PoP or 60 GHz microwave (with automatic 5 GHz failover). Radio options are Small Cell (all-in-one, no CU/DU) or Medium RRH (1–3 sectors sharing one CU/DU). 5G Core and BSS/CRM platforms can be modelled as CAPEX (on-premise) or OPEX (cloud/SaaS).

UK Broadband & Mobile Service availibility - Heat Map
Telecommunications software tools now make it possible to produce detailed UK broadband coverage and quality maps that combine operator network footprints, Ofcom datasets, crowdsourced speed tests and drive-test measurements into GIS-based heatmaps and interactive dashboards; these maps display technology layers (ADSL, FTTC, FTTP, 3G/4G/5G), throughput (download/upload), latency, packet loss and signal strength so planners and regulators can assess performance, identify gaps in rural and urban provision, prioritise fibre roll-out and monitor service-level KPIs in near real-time. While invaluable for network design, consumer guidance and policy-making, these maps must be used alongside contextual metadata—sampling density, indoor/outdoor measurements and device variability—so stakeholders can interpret coverage and quality trade-offs accurately and protect user privacy when handling crowdsourced measurements.
